Mining electric locomotive generally refers to the traction equipment for rail transportation, and is the "locomotive" of rail vehicles. There are many kinds of classification standards for mining electric locomotives, mainly including four.
1. According to the different working environment, it can be divided into open-pit mining electric locomotive and underground electric locomotive.
2. According to different gauge, there are standard gauge electric locomotive and narrow gauge electric locomotive.
3. According to the nature of power supply, electric locomotive is divided into DC electric locomotive and AC electric locomotive, of which DC electric locomotive is more widely used.
4. According to the different power supply modes, the electric locomotive is divided into two types, namely, the stringing electric locomotive and the battery electric locomotive. Among them, there are three kinds of batteries for battery electric locomotives: ordinary lead acid batteries, maintenance free batteries and lithium batteries.
Rail locomotive transportation with mining electric locomotive as the power source is the main mode of mine transportation in China. The entire transportation system is composed of rails, mining cars, mining electric locomotives and other auxiliary equipment, such as ore raking equipment, ore loading equipment, belt conveyors and related safety equipment.
